Expanding globally doesn’t just mean translating your product. Payments are where growth ambitions meet hard reality. At Smallpdf, we discovered this first-hand while serving millions of users across markets with very different expectations. In this talk, I’ll walk through the real lessons we learned about payment localization: why adding Alipay was a no-brainer, how currencies and billing defaults shape conversion, and what happens when you try to roll out localized pricing. I’ll also share our experience migrating from Braintree to Stripe, and how payment orchestration became a necessity, not a nice-to-have.
